Kia Orana and warm greetings to everyone. Are you enjoying your summer? I also did this one with my siblings. The items we used was a long piece of string,a plastic bottle, water and scissors. We cut the bottle into half then made holes in it to put the string through and tied it at the top. We spinned it to see if the water would come out. It is all about air pressure. Here is the result. When I watched it I started laughing hard out.

ReplyDeleteIt’s Renee from the Summer Learning Journey Team here again. I enjoyed your first post on this Nanogirl experiment so much that I had to come and check out the second post! It is so great that you have included a video of yourself carrying out this experiment as we can really see the magic of air pressure at work. Were you nervous that the water would come out and fall on your head (especially when the bottle started to swing more slowly)?
I have had a great summer so far as I have been able to spend a lot of time with friends and whānau and the weather has been pretty great so I have been to the beach a few times. How has your summer been? What has been a highlight of summer for you?
Keep up the excellent mahi!
Ngā mihi nui

Hi Alilia,
ReplyDeleteGreat video and you are so brave doing it indoors! You must really trust the science to think that the water wouldn't spill out!
Great experimenting,
