Aloha Everyone! Are you having a great day. Today I made a sundial from the Nanogirl task. I really enjoy doing tasks every week. To make the sundial I used these items. A ruler, cardboard that my mum was about to throw away, permanent marker, string and bluetack. Here is the result.
Hey Alilia,
ReplyDeleteI'm having an awesome day so far, checking out some great blogs today and listening to music while I comment on them, thanks for asking. Hope your day is going well too.
Great work on the sundial activity, and good save with that cardboard. I’ve really enjoyed seeing what you and the other students have made this summer, this sundial is a really interesting piece of technology that is really simple in design but clever in its use.
It’s really interesting to learn about how people in the past did things and how their lives differed from ours.
Make sure to put it somewhere around the house that gets lots of direct sunlight without other sources of light around it to confuse the shadows. Then use the clocks you’ve already got and spin it round till it’s telling the correct time.
Nice work Alilia,
See you later in the comments,
Daniel
Hi Alilia,
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing sundial you have built. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the activity and you showed great engineering skills in building it. I'm so glad you were able to rescue the cardboard that your mum was about to throw out and use it to make something new. We call this re-purposing and it's a great way to help materials to last for longer before they are recycled or thrown away.
