SLJ || Stick Figure Fun

Today I have done another activity called stick figure fun. A stick figure is drawn by having a circled head, and the body, arms, and legs are drawn as lines. In this activity I have created 6 stick figures performing and implementing actions. The activities the stick figures are performing are skipping, twirling a rope {apart of gymnastics}, Walking up stairs, sleeping, singing and playing tennis.

I enjoyed this task because it was a great way to be creative, in this picture you can not really see it clearly.

Thank you, Alilia

SLJ || Text Graphic: 5 word summer

 Today I have done another activity called text graphic. I have chose a beach side.  In this activity I had to use 5 words in my opinion to describe my topic but whatever topic I chose it had to relate to Summer. Here is my piece. I chose these words seashells, sand castles, footprints, family and sunshine - because collecting rare seashells are my sister and I's hobby, Sand Castles are because instead of having fun building them me and my siblings like destroying them, footprints are for the obvious reasons - for when you leave a trail in the sand physically. Family is because who would not want to be with the people you love on a great day, sunshine is the  best thing about this season.

I enjoyed this activity because I actually had extra time just to research about beaches with both pollution and popularity.

Thank you πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡΄ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡°

SLJ || Summer Haiku Poem

 This was my third poetry slam activity and I made a haiku about summer. Haiku is a form of poetry with three lines, in those three lines there is a specific amount of syllables needed, which is 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line, and 5 syllables in the last/third line.

Based on Summer,  you might come across a lot of sentences that include a variety of birds, plants, and weather that usually come in this season.

I enjoyed this activity because I love summer. My best - loved season of all.

Thank you for listening to my writing. Now to end this post off I have a question,

If you had to chose your best-loved season of all what would it be and tell me three facts about it.

Thank you πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡΄ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡°

 Task Description; For this task we had to create a seasonal greeting card. I chose to make one based on Christmas because it is tomorrow, and by the way Merry Christmas!

SLJ || Geome - tree

 Description; Today I have done another activity about geometry art. This is actually a task I missed out on before. In this activity I have used black marker but then I felt like I messed up so now it looks really different. I enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to create my own geometric tree physically.

Thank you everyone, Merry Christmas Eve!

SLJ || He Nuka Pangarau - Kickstart

 Task Description:  For this task it was slightly different to the Magic math tricks but we had to expand the math problems instead of just making the answers. I'm sorry I did not really think of any strategies  but I promise on the next math SLJ activity I will complete everything.

Result of Presentation:

SLJ || Bridge Builder

 Task Description: For this task we had to design and build our own bridge with objects that we find anywhere. You have to test what heaviest load can your bridge withstand.

Creating a Design:  So when starting to create my design I really just had a thought of using just two stable chairs and a piece of wood.

I wanted thick wood so I found some outside and chose one to be the second base of my bridge. The first base is obviously the chairs. I would have like 4 litres of orange juice on their probably.

Here is the result of my design.

SLJ || Cicadas Do Math

My timeline in the section below shows my prediction of how my life might be like this. So it starts from when I am 17 working by 17x timestables. So, I don't really know what will happen in the future but this is my prediction.

Theses are only my main things I want to do at these ages but I want to do many more like jump of a cliff    { with supervision of course }.

I don't want to grow up that fast. I want to enjoy my childhood because you are only a child once, when your an adult you won't have the comfort of being a child so I won't rush to grow.

Thank you,

Kind Regards, Alilia (>‿◠)✌ stay safe

SLJ || Found Sound

 Fakalofa lahi atu everyone.

Are we feeling okay? Well I hope so.

Today, I have done the task called found sound. We were challenged to find any objects to make wierd noises. To be honest I thought it was going to be okay but when I grabbed my objects it kind of sounded horrible just using them.

Sounds,

what types of sounds do you like to hear?

Music? Well get ready for musical madness, both me and my brother hated it from the start but at least we tried. The objects I had in hand were 3 sketch books, a recipe book {I borrowed it from my mum }and some chopsticks to tap them.

Thank you for visiting my blog, Have a great day!

SLJ || Create something that can float

 Hi everyone, how's your summer been going?

So far, I have loved doing Christmas shopping almost everyday but we first prepared our gifts.

Christmas is coming up!

Early Merry Christmas Everyone!

Sorry, I could not do the tasks yesterday because I was really busy and I could not do today's tasks really early but I promise I will do them all right now and post them on my blog.

So for today's challenge, we had to create something that floats.

Transportation now days are by using ships,boats and excetra. We have really developed our creations of having boats around.

According to our information, Egyptians are our superiors of inventing the transportation known as Boats. You see our information can only go so far, my personal theory is that it was created much more earlier than that but really it still is a mystery we can not completely confirm.

The small boat was a prototype so then we I and my sister made so more but bigger ones.

I'm sorry I couldn't get a video of it, but we actually put in these chopsticks and it could hold 7 individual chopsticks { so not 7 pairs = 3 pairs + 1 extra }. My house was a bit too noisy because we had three people visiting { well, two and a half = their cute little baby son }.

When the visitors we came we gave them some cookies and ate with them { I made them }.

SLJ || Vector Art - step it up

 Kia Ora, for this task we had to create a vector art of a hero and give one quote from them. I chose Maya Angelou, this picture particular picture is from when she was younger.

I feel that she is an inspiration to all of us so that is why I have picked her. The quote she has said is that "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud" and that is a life lesson to remember.

When you see someone feeling down, depressed or even frustrated try to lighten up there day even if it's just a small talk because that has a lot of impact. Maya Angelou is a loyal feminist and a great role model.

SLJ || Slam Poetry

|| Summer Breeze ||                                                                  Song my Family and I love in the Summer:

Summer Breeze  runs through my hair
While the sun kisses my skin
Ice cream drifting into liquid
The sky's appearance couldn't be more vivid.
The photos, videos and excetra
makes me want to lecture
about how often we should be enjoying this weather..
Should we give the sky more acknowledgement?
Bond and communication is at bay
People outside to play
and if they
were not to say....
Thank you to that light in the sky
they have wouldn't not be more together as a family.

Quote and meaning: " It comes to say folks, when you get an opportunity to have time with your family take it. In summer break don't be on digital devices 24/7 make memories you would want to remember ".

 Malo e lelei everyone,

we are back with another SLJ activity. This is magic math tricks kickstart.

I tested it out on my family without any calculators and gave them 40 seconds to do a question. My dad got it all right but at the start I think he was a bit confused.

I got 2/3 slides correct.

SLJ || Spread the word - step it up

 Kia Ora koutou katoa everyone!

This task was about seeing who our top 5 favorite blogs. I have chosen some from Ruapotaka school and Glen Taylor. There are hyperlinks to travel to their blogs.

I chose my fifth favorite Renei@ Ruapotaka School because I loved her blog post about her wordle. Her wordle had descriptive words that really spoke her personality. I can tell that she in an amazing person in general.

In 4th favorite, I picked Catherine @ Glen Taylor because of of her informative task descriptions, overall  a really great personality.

Next, we have Limiteiti @ Tamaki College, *does she count even though she is at secondary school? I am not sure. I like the way she has very creative titles that attract the crowd. Her writing is very amazing when she has great starts of the sentences.

In my opinion, my second favorite blog has to be my sister's blog. Sunipa @ Ruapotaka School. I like her writing. I like how she puts hyperlinks for the viewers to play or see what she has been learning.

Now my #1 favorite is Alamoni @ Tamaki College - also from Tamaki college and he's also one of my elder brothers. Competing in the summer learning journey is hard but he managed. I love his Summer Learning Journey Blog posts.

Thank you everyone - Have a great day

Kind Regards, Alilia (>‿◠)✌ stay safe

Fakalofa lahi atua everyone, hope you are feeling good (>‿◠)

So actually, I went through the summer learning journey page and found out that I had missed a challenge so here I am showing you the step it up challenge, I almost finished the kickstart activity. Here it is,  thank you for listening.

SLJ || E hia nga mea?

 Kia Ora everyone, Everyone feeling good, hope so (>‿◠)

E Hia Nga Mea - How many things?

Are you familiar with this sentence?

Well, today I did an activity based on summer. As far as summer goes I am loving it. We had to make a poster to ask people how many _____ are there. *the objects are involved with summer, for e.g. - ice cream = eat in summer, cold water = drink for hydration.

Overall, I think I did an okay job of creating it but it could be improved. I actually made one before last year ( *not from SLJ though ) but I didn't want to use it again.

I picked ice cream  because I think it is the most common of foods to eat in summer, the sun is brighter than ever and hotter than ever, what could be better than a desert.

I picked books because I love reading Amulet books by Kazu Kibuishi.

Water is for the obvious reasons, to keep hydrated and stay nice and cool.

Sandals- because I also have seen frequently a lot of people wearing these in summer because it lets more air come to your feet.

Shades - I am pretty sure that these can work to protect your eyes from the brightness and heat *also counts as a trend of fashion.

Strawberries - are very delicious at all times but I enjoy to have a blend of both sourness and a hint of sweetness in nice pieces of fruit.

Watermelon - Refreshing and juicy, Watermelon can be a great companion in this weather. I personally like having it in otai, a traditional Tongan drink/desert.

Bananas- Well this one, I am not sure that it is common but I like making smoothies so if you are a smoothie lover like me you should try making a banana berry smoothie.

Thank you everyone, Have a great day and Merry Christmas!

SLJ || Mandala Mania

 Mandala - a geometric pattern of symbols that mostly have themes ; spiritual traditions have mandalas included ....

Fakalofa lahi atu everyone, is everyone feeling good? Hope you are (>‿◠)

Well, I'm here with another challenge ; MANDALA MANIA !

So we had to collect pieces or objects that we found outside but also some inside.

The objects that I used were red Alstroemeria petals, red leaves that I found * I have never seen them before, leaves from a type of fern I found somewhere in my backyard and lastly a necklace that I got as a gift from my family members both uncle and auntie in Tonga.

 I thought that maybe personalize this mandala about me. The red petals represent Tonga because of my heritage and because of how I like to stand out so that is why I got something that has a very vivid appearance. The green leaves represent the way I love nature. The neckless has my name embroidered on it.

Thank you everyone (>‿◠)✌ stay safe

Unity over uniforms

                                                                                                                                                                               Should students be able to wear freely or represent their school by uniform? -

This is a topic that has came up a lot being a year 5. I mean, they both have their reasons and intentions but I genuinely stand towards uniforms.

Before I start, what do you think personally about this topic?
       I think that we should wear uniforms to represent our school at events.
We should always ensure that the students/children are wearing appropriate clothes for special occasions.
I have been thinking about this one reason and we can come across it.

Sexist Behavior ......

As in boys can not wear ______ .
and girls can not wear ________ .

I think maybe to stop that argument from occurring we should just stick to uniforms.

To end off this writing I have a question -

What do you choose ....
That's it for today  -

Kind regards // Alilia

SLJ || Spread the word

 Kia Ora whanau !!!!

Today, I was like taking about half an hour working on this slide deck because we have another challenge!

For this task we had to spread the word ; meaning promoting students's blog posts for you and everyone to check out. These are mainly from my school but I love a lot of posts from other schools for example Catherine from Glen taylor * she comes to my church as well.  I think she is great.

SLJ - 2021 || Create something that flies !!!!

 Finally, I have waited since the start of december to have daily learning tasks from the summer learning journey. I hope everyone else is doing it, I think I already know a couple of students from my school are doing it.

Malo e lelei everyone, welcome to my blog!!!!

Also, yes. This is the first task of the summer learning journey.

For this task we had to create something that flies.

In truth I did try making the other aircrafts but it did not turn out right but I did do an average normal paper plane. It turned out to go 1.6 meters far 😲 !!!

* I was in shock

My sister made mini planes that looked so cute, I think she will paint them later.

Math Study Notes // Part 1

 Math Notes for 2022 -

Binary numbers:

Remember that the binary numeral system is a way to write numbers using only two digits: 0 and 1. As there are only two options, they can only represent two different digits, 0 and 1. This is called the binary number system, or base two. ("Bi" means two.) All the numbers are constructed from the two digits 0 and 1.

Factors - A smaller whole number that can be multipled by another whole number.

Prime Number - A number that can only be divided by itself and 1

*by the way, 1 does not count as a prime or composite number

Multiples - The result of one number being multipled by another

E.g. 8 times tables || 8 x 6 = 48 || 8 x 7 = 56 || 8 x 8 = 64

Order of Operation -

E xponents

Golden Ratio Notes - Extra

The golden ratio (symbol is the Greek letter "phi" shown at left) is a special number approximately equal to 1.618
It appears many times in geometry, art, architecture and other areas.
Many buildings and artworks have the Golden Ratio in them, such as the Parthenon in Greece, but it is not really known if it was designed that way.
The Golden Ratio is equal to:  1.618

|| Prizegiving Vlog ||

Malo e lelei everyone, Great news up ahead ...

Well, I got a prize!!
Okay, actually a few more than one. When I heard them say my name for a lot of prizes and to come up I was so nervous. I am grateful and happy that I have gotten the prizes and I really thank my teachers, peers and family. I am glad I ended my year happily. The teachers have been amazing to me, I thank my own teacher. To be honest at first I disliked him { Sorry, teach} but then as the year progressed he turned out to be alright. After hanging out with my friends at school like watching anime and playing games, I went home to celebrate with my family. After, I sort of slept for like two hours and the writing this post.

I both loved and disliked this year ....
Some things I would not regret was celebrating my B - DAY { oh, and for my sister's teacher, Sunipa has her b-day tomorrow - Can't WAIT }, spending quality time with family - baking, enjoying time outside, doing classic jokes - Hilarity is almost the best thing about lockdown.

I wish to all the year 8's that they accomplish what they will strive for and focus strongly. I hope you have a great year next year.

For all the students that have been awarded prizes very well done to all of you - and for those who haven't received a prize this is not the end, you will still have next year to work your hardest and achieve and that it is okay to not get a prize because each one of us have done a great job throughout year 2021.

Well my fellow people to end off this vlog I would like to say that if you work hard, put effort into what you do you will accomplish something great and be proud of
yourself.

A Review / || Cybersmart ||

 Task Description :  This task was just going through which Cybersmart challenges I have done and which still have to occur.

(>‿◠)✌ Thank you everyone.

Homemade Boba

Yesterday, my family made mango boba and mango milk. We had it for a beverage after our desert. We also made otai but that is a story for another time. Man, it kind of tasted nice. I just think I am not a mango boba type { oh, by the way boba is what is in the drink not the drink itself }. I think I like the brown sugar boba better, though I do like mango in general just not as boba.

Using information from the web - || Cybersmart ||

 Task Description:  For this task we had to find key information from the internet and use our own words to talk about that category. We have to learn to use our own words, plagiarism can occur in the future for when you go to university for example. You can not copy a person's paragraphs but you can get key ideas and use your own vocabulary to make your unique writing.

Here is my slideshow about it - Thank you (>‿◠)✌

Checking Authenticity / Evaluate online information - Cybersmart

SLJ: Teasser - Art Colouring Book

Fakalofa lahi atu everyone, her is my artwork that I have done for the Summer learning Journey teaser challenge. Our task was to colour in drawings and give at least one fact about what your image is talking about. I can no wait for the summer learning journey o start.

Last year, I came second place and my brother cam 1st. I don't really care about coming first but to continue learning throughout the summer break so that I do not lose my knowledge from this year.

I encourage other fellow students like I to participate. I hope to see other students participating in both my school and schools across Auckland and the rest. Here are some information about the picture.

                              These are watermelons, I have coloured them in on the app Art Colouring Book. { There is the link by the way if you would like to give it a try. } Now I am going to give you facts about watermelons.

                         Watermelon is grown in favorable climates from tropical to                                     worldwide for its large edible fruit. They have a juicy inside filled with                                   watermelon seed that you can actually reuse to make various                                                     watermelon in the surface of ground. A hard outside                                      shell which I can tell you is not really eaten. Watermelon are very healthy and                                        important if you have no water you can produce it from                                                               watermelon " water"is in it's name.

                              1) Some benefits of consuming and drinking it

                             2) Helps you stay hydrated

                             3) Packed with nutrients and beneficial plant compounds

                             4) May have anticancer effects

                             5) May improve heart health

                            6) May reduce inflammation and oxidative stress

SLJ : Teaser - Nasa Art colouring

 So this is what I did in the morning:

1) I registered to SLJ 2021 - Summer learning journey

2) Looked at the teaser and saw a similarity of what I did last year in 2020\

3) I did the challenge knowing I had already done it before I also did the Nasa Edition Colouring Book

Right now I am writing about it, I enjoyed looking at the pictures. They really are beautiful.

Here is my writing and pictures -  (>‿◠)✌

So here is my photos -

So here is some information and Fun facts I found about this picture and about outer space since it is specifically pointing at this category.

Did you know that Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin was the first person to orbit completely around earth on 12 April 1961.
It took him 108 minutes just waiting to complete an entire orbit.
Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin was born on March 9, 1934.
He lived in a small village a hundred miles from Moscow.
He passed away 27 March 1968.
He was a born astronaut and had a beautiful career.
He would say and shout out "Poyekhali!" which means Let's GO!!!
Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin was killed with another pilot in the crash of a jet aircraft
                                    while on what was described as a  training flight.
