SLJ || Summer Haiku Poem

 This was my third poetry slam activity and I made a haiku about summer. Haiku is a form of poetry with three lines, in those three lines there is a specific amount of syllables needed, which is 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line, and 5 syllables in the last/third line.

Based on Summer,  you might come across a lot of sentences that include a variety of birds, plants, and weather that usually come in this season.

I enjoyed this activity because I love summer. My best - loved season of all.

Thank you for listening to my writing. Now to end this post off I have a question,

If you had to chose your best-loved season of all what would it be and tell me three facts about it.

Thank you 🇹🇴 🇨🇰

    Chris here from the Summer Learning Journey, again! Great to see you still posting!

    Tēnā koe for completing this task, I’m glad that you enjoyed it, and that you love summer so much! How many syllables do you think are in that first line?

    Worth = one syllable
    Em-a-nat-ing = four syllables
    From = one syllable
    The = one syllable
    Sun = one syllable

    How about the second line?

    Love the poem, though! It’s very positive and pretty.

    My favourite season is winter, for a couple of reasons:

    1) It’s easier to warm up when you’re cold, than it is to cool down when you’re warm; so, it’s easier to get comfortable in winter.
    2) Winter usually means winter food and drinks, like roasts and warm drinks!
    3) Winter means winter clothes, like big jackets and long pants, which I prefer wearing!
    These are less facts, and more just things I like about the season. Thank you for your question!

    I’m looking forward to seeing what else you post in the final week, next week!

    Ngā mihi,
    Chris

  2. Kia ora Alilia!

    It is Charlotte here from the SLJ commenting team!

    This haiku poem is fantastic! You use awesome describing words that help to set the scene! Summer is my favourite season as well!! Hmmm, three facts about summer?

    1. When the Arctic is in summer, the sun never sets!

    2. The east coast of Aotearoa is the first place in the world to see the sun for the day, which means NZ experiences summer first than any other place!

    3. It is unfortunately getting hotter and hotter every summer… Have you noticed that it’s very hot this summer? I certainly have!!

    Awesome mahi here, Alilia!!

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Charlotte :)
